In short, comedy like this….what is there to say? It is more appealing to me when comedians do not smile. When comedians act as if they were serious. A work that requires the comedian to be an actor, who is not trying to be funny, is brilliant. There is then something to say about the kind of satirical, surrealistic, ridicules, and historical comedy, found for instance, in Monty Python, Black Adder, The Mighty Boosh, ‘Allo ‘Allo, and Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. There is something to say about intellectualism in comedy too. Comedies that are more appealing are those that not only make us laugh, but that are surprising; they break boundaries….they do not just attack obvious topics for laughter. My goal will be to find all those comedies.
